Wellfleet is a special place to us, with two-thirds of its land mass protected by the Cape Cod National Seashore offering Atlantic Ocean beaches, bayside beaches and active harbor. Home of the famous Beachcomber Beach Bar, the Wellfleet Oyster and the October Oysterfest.

In-Season: Tips to know

  • Beach parking is very limited, get there early, going mid-week is always better
  • Parking at White Crest Beach: $30 cash with $1.50 fee for credit card use
  • Maguire Landing at LeCount Hollow is for residents only from June to Labor Day.
  • Limited parking at Cahoon Hollow at the Beachcomber, $30 cash and you get a voucher to use for food, raw bar and merchandise.

First…. Coffee

There’s a Dunkin on Rt 6, but check out our local favorites…

  • PB Boulangerie at 15 Lecount Hollow Rd locally roasted coffee, specialty coffees and baked goods. Parking is limited, there is parking across the street at the bike trail.
  • Blue Willow Bakery at 1426 Rt US 6; coffee, and full selection of sandwiches and baked goods.

Pack the Cooler – Local Spots

  • Wellfleet Market on Main St in town carries coffee, sandwiches, bakery items and more.

More to know…

You can’t visit Wellfleet without a visit to theBeachcomber.com, the fun beach bar. Get there early and get in your beach time then wander up for a cold beach drink, chowder, raw bar or a burger. Check out the entertainment calendar. Due to the erosion over the years, parking is limited. The $30 cash to park can be redeemed for food or merchandise.

Mayo Beach on the bay side down at the harbor, free parking and fun to watch the boats and activities. The WellfleetPearl.com at the harbor offers great drinks and food and roof deck tables, check out their entertainment calendar. Mac’s at the Pier take out with picnic tables or bring back to the beach. Across the street from the beach is another option the Bookstore, Wellfleetoyster.com more of a sit down restaurant with lots of food options.

After the beach… explore Wellfleet

Traveler’s Tip – In season, parking is at a premium in town. There is public parking at town hall in town and down at the harbor.

Hungry?

More dining options are Moby Dick’s mobys.com on Route 6 (3225 State Highway) famous for their clams and their key lime pie. Moby’s is a BYOB restaurant. Also, a fun gift shop next door the Cargo Store.

Winslowstavern.com at 316 Main St is a more upscale restaurant with a nice wine list and dinner options. In a 1805 mansion setting overlooking Main St.

Macs Shack at 91 Commercial St, close to the harbor is a sit-down restaurant serving local seafood dishes including sushi and raw bar and craft cocktails.

From the harbor you can walk over to Wellfleet Marine at 25 Holbrook Ave. A great beachy gift shop with local and unique items.

Great Island Trail at Griffins Island Rd is a 9 mile loop to a beautiful beach only accessible by hiking in or boat. There is free parking and picnic tables.

Wellfleet Drive In at 51 State Highway right over the Eastham town line. Another favorite after the beach, dinner and sunset, why not a movie? Drive in is seasonal, there is also a cinema on site, flea markets and a Dairy Bar.

Hog Island Surf Lodge and Beer Yard at 842 Route 6. Full menu, raw bar and full bar with a surfer’s vibe. Lots of fun with entertainment, check their calendar.

Looking to spend the night…

Check out the Holden Inn at 140 Commercial St close to the harbor and Wellfleet Center. An old Captains house now a B&B open seasonally from May to November.

Special Events

Fall: Don’t forget the famous Oysterfest, traditionally held the weekend after Columbus/Indigenous Day in October, a great fall weekend event.
